Listening exercise: Barcelona being spoilt by tourists, BBC reports

Dear followers:
Below you have the link to an interesting video about Tourists in Barcelona, and here you also have an extract with the transcription of the first things that are heard.

1. Can you identify any mistakes in it?
2. Who is willing to continue with the transcription, even if it is just a few lines?

Just try!

It stands majestically at the crossroads of North and South Europe. A beacon, a success. You want architecture? OK, you can have Gaudi's iconic creations. But you get a free gift too, of the tourists: lots of them. You want narrow streets, authentic sounds and smells? Turn to Barrio Gothico, home of these famous Picasso museum. And that, too, comes with lot of tourists. 8.000 arriving per day in the city, is estimated... And now there's the swanking new hotels that add-extend to the city an added high-end clear on-toil to the mix.  Tourism in Barcelona marches relatedously on it.
"Now you have all year tourism". All year round. As before, you know, you'd expect, your sort of, your, your group of tourists to be coming in in summer. Now you get them in large numbers throughout the year."
This avenue, the Ramblas, used to being a river. The water run out, but now it's overflown with tourists. And the locals say they're drowning.

  1. Hi, everyone

I'm going to write some mistakes I was able to find. I'm sure that there will be more than I found.

It stands majestically at the crossroads of the North and the South Europe. A beacon, a success. Do you want architecture? O.k. you can have Gaudi's iconic creations. But you can get a free gift too, tourists; hundreds of them. Do you want narrow streets, authentic sounds and smells? Then, turn to the Barrio Gótico, home of the famous Picasso Museum. You come together with lot of tourists, too. Is estimated that 8000 tourists arriving per day in the city. And now there's the swanking new hotels that add-extend to the city an added high-end clear ontoil to the mix.
This avenue, the Ramblas, used to be a river. The water run out, but now it's overflown with tourists. And the locals say they're drowning

  3. These are the mistakes I’ve been able to identify. I’ve classified them into 3 types:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key:
    - #Wrong words# - words between hash symbols: Not used in the video (or wrongly used)
    - {Right words} - words between curly brackets: Actually used in the video
    - [Missing in the video] - using square brackets: Should be there in correct speaking
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TRANSCRIPT:

NEW FRAGMENT TRANSCRIPTION (from 1:15 to 1:43): This is my attempt to continue with transcription:

And if you see this place on a Friday night...!

Now you may say: what’s wrong with that? A fifteen per cent rise in visitor numbers in a time of crisis across Southern Europe in 2011. 80 to 100 thousand people here working in a tourist-related job, as one in ten residents.

What’s more, in 2010 Barcelona held more conferences than any other city in the world. At the W Hotels for instance, built on reclaimed land.

  7. Hello,
These are the mistakes I have found.
    # Wrong words
    () correct words or expressions.

    Minutes: 1’44 – 3’22

“Definitely there #is# (are) some developments that are being taking place in the port, the port of Barcelona, an important part of the areas indeed, building an additional marina for luxury yachts. So, ¿? attract an additional crowd of people tourist area”.
“And the future doesn’t stop at the W.”
“The main focus of our promotional activity is to attract major international events #on# to the city, like sport events, conferences, and events basically that are going to attract a #white# (wide) volume of people #on# to our city”.

“It all adds up to ten million estimated tourists for the year 2012 compared to a half million in 1993. Except this man who lives here doesn’t want more tourists, he wants fewer and it’s not allowing. He calls it an invasion and it’s part of the great movement of disaffected locals.”

“On a particularly crowded summer day you will not be able to do much. You will not really see much. You will see the sweaty bodies of the people #like# #pushing against you# (pushing through the crowd), and #mostly# (most) people are #like# walking up and down, what is the traditional thing to do, and #being fright upon# (are frigthened) by pickpockets and staring at the living statues, and sometimes going #into# (to) some #like# overpriced restaurants”.
